While Severed ultimately graced the screens of PlayStation Vita, Wii U, iOS, and 3DS, it seems many of us overlooked this gem. Guacamelee! has always been a fan favorite, frequently mentioned and adored by gamers everywhere. However, Severed doesn’t receive the same level of recognition. This week, though, marks a turning point as the action-packed title makes its debut on the Nintendo Switch. Available now for $15 on the eShop in both North America and Europe, it’s a must-play for fans of the genre.

Similar to Voez, Severed is designed with touch controls in mind, making it exclusive to handheld mode on the Switch. You won’t find an option to play it on your TV, which aligns with its swipe-based mechanics. It’s a deliberate choice that enhances the gaming experience.

Our own Zack Furniss was thoroughly impressed with Severed, stating in his review for Destructoid that it “obliterated [his] conceptions of how a touch-based game can play.” He awarded it a stellar 9.5 out of 10, further solidifying its status as a standout title.
