There are seven 5-star characters in Genshin Impact within the standard pool. Typically, when you pull on banners, you obtain them randomly, making it impossible to specifically target a particular character. Nonetheless, it can be nice to know which characters are worth building or which one to choose as your free anniversary 5-star. Here is every standard 5-star character in Genshin Impact, ranked from the best to the worst.

1. Jean – The Best Standard 5-Star in Genshin

Jean is truly the top-notch 5-star character in Genshin Impact. She is a highly potent healer, capable of effortlessly topping off the entire team with a single activation. Additionally, her Burst also offers healing over time to the active character. The healing capabilities of Jean synergize extremely well with many of the newer Fontaine characters that have elements that drain HP from their kits.
As an Anemo character, Jean can also equip the 4-piece Viridescent Venerer artifact set. This set reduces the elemental RES of enemies when she triggers Swirl, making them weaker against the Swirled element.
Jean’s Constellations are also quite remarkable. Her second Constellation enhances the movement speed of your team, which is very useful when exploring the vast and immersive open world of Teyvat. Her fourth Constellation is a rare source of Anemo RES shred, boosting the Anemo DPS of your team.

2. Tighnari – The Strongest Standard 5-Star DPS

Tighnari is a 5-star Dendro Bow user who deals substantial Dendro damage. When paired with Electro teammates like Fischl, the results are outstanding. Tighnari has a unique Charged Shot gameplay style where he casts his Skill and then rapidly fires three Charged Shots at his opponents. Each attack has the potential to trigger Spread, increasing Tighnari’s damage based on his Elemental Mastery.
Furthermore, Tighnari’s Skill and Burst have extremely short cooldowns of 12 seconds, allowing for extremely quick rotations and exciting combos. His damage output and unique playstyle make him the second-best standard 5-star in Genshin Impact.
All of Tighnari’s Constellations enhance his damage capabilities to varying degrees. His sixth Constellation enables him to trigger Spread more frequently, significantly boosting his damage. If you enjoy Tighnari’s gameplay style, his Constellations are definitely worth having.

3. Keqing – A Fun DPS Option

Like Tighnari, Keqing is also a damage dealer. The introduction of the Dendro element has significantly improved her, making her an agile Aggravate DPS. With the right Dendro teammates such as Nahida, Baizhu, or the Dendro Traveler, Keqing can use her Skill to dash into combat and overwhelm enemies with a flurry of Electro hits. Her Burst also deals multiple instances of Electro damage, and its flashy animation is one of my favorites in Genshin Impact.
Keqing’s Constellations modestly increase her damage. Her fourth and sixth Constellations provide the greatest damage boosts. Keqing’s second Constellation was notoriously bugged for a long time, but the issue has been fixed, and she should now properly generate Energy.

4. Diluc – The Original Pyro DPS

Diluc was Genshin Impact’s very first 5-star Pyro DPS unit. Although his damage is now overshadowed by newer Pyro units, Diluc is still viable against most enemies. His unique Skill and Normal Attack combos give his gameplay a certain rhythm that I find enjoyable. Diluc may not be the highest-damaging Pyro DPS in Genshin Impact, but he is still fun and reliable.
Diluc’s Constellations are not very useful until C6. Constellations 2 and 4, in particular, can be challenging to take advantage of. C6 Diluc improves the damage of his combo, but it is difficult to recommend Diluc’s Constellations in general.

5. Mona – Ideal for Screenshots

Mona is particularly notable for briefly granting a massive DMG buff with her Burst. Her off-field Hydro application may be limited, but Mona shines as a niche unit for enabling screenshots with big numbers. Stack buffs with other supports, cast Mona’s Burst, swap to your DPS unit, and watch their damage skyrocket. This gameplay style is incredibly impractical for most content, but it is a fun way to showcase the damage capabilities of your favorite character.
Mona’s Constellations are not worth pulling. Her first Constellation is bugged and does not actually increase the Freeze duration. Constellation 4 is probably the best one as it increases the CRIT Rate against enemies affected by Mona’s Burst.

6. Dehya – A Niche Support

Dehya offers a combination of defensive utility and off-field Pyro application. She absorbs some of the damage taken by her teammates, but without a healer, she can easily die. She is able to apply some off-field Pyro with her Skill, but Xiangling is better for this purpose. I only recommend playing Dehya if you need a source of off-field Pyro and Xiangling is not available.
Dehya’s Constellations enhance her damage if you want to play her as an on-field DPS. C6 Dehya is capable of respectable damage, but many players find her Burst difficult to use effectively. Try playing around with Dehya’s Burst before deciding to build her for damage.

7. Qiqi – Good at Healing, but Not Much Else

Qiqi is a powerful healer. That’s about it. She is good at keeping your team alive, but she cannot generate Energy, cannot reliably apply Cryo, and has no inherent team buffs. I only recommend using Qiqi if you have no other healer available. It is unfortunate that Qiqi has such limited utility, which is why she is considered one of the worst characters in Genshin Impact.
Qiqi’s Constellation 6 is notable for reviving dead teammates – an ability shared with only one other character: Barbara. Nonetheless, it definitely is not worth trying to obtain C6 Qiqi to unlock this effect.
