Bungie unveiled a fresh trailer today, spotlighting Destiny 2‘s Crucible – the game’s term for its competitive multiplayer arena. After experiencing the beta last month, I found the trailer somewhat misleading in terms of combat pace. Ignoring power weapons and super abilities, the time-to-kill is longer than in Destiny 1, which itself was slower than games like Call of Duty or Battlefield. Instead, it aligns more closely with the Halo series’ time-to-kill, allowing a surprised player ample opportunity to escape or retaliate.

The trailer is peppered with subtle clues, such as a flurry of crests dropping after a multikill around the 0:28 mark, hinting at the possible return of the previously unconfirmed Supremacy game mode in Destiny 2. However, modes like Rumble, the free-for-all option, won’t be available at launch, if at all.

Several exotic weapons are showcased, including the Sweet Business auto rifle and Sunshot hand cannon from the beta, alongside the pre-order bonus Coldheart trace rifle and the rumored Dubious Volley rocket launcher.

The trailer also features new emotes, with a particularly stylish Hunter stealing the show. One emote celebrates capturing a control point, while another evokes memories of one of Telltale’s most iconic scenes, where the Guardian triumphs over numerous foes using nothing but finger guns.
