Now, this Yellow Wind Sage is a lot tougher than all the previous bosses. But fear not, there are ways to make the fight with him a whole lot easier. Here’s what you need to know.

How to Defeat the Yellow Wind Sage in Black Myth: Wukong

First and foremost, it’s highly advisable to complete the Drunken Pig’s quest. Upon finishing it, you’ll be rewarded with the Wind Tamer Vessel. This item is crucial as it provides huge damage reduction while active and immunity to those pesky strong winds. Those winds can really make the fight against the Yellow Wind Sage quite annoying.

When you start the battle, approach him like you would in a normal fight. I mainly went with a light attack combo build, using the Immobilize spell to deal free damage during the combo cooldown. While in transformation, try to deal as much damage as possible before you get knocked out of it or run out of Might. You can also take advantage of the transformation to negate all the damage dealt to you.

Once the Sage starts conjuring up sand tornadoes all over the arena, activate the Wind Tamer. It’ll stun him for a few seconds, giving you a chance to land a few free hits before he recovers. While it’s active, you can take more hits as the damage reduction kicks in. But don’t be too greedy, as he can still dish out a lot of damage, especially during his teleporting, statue dive, and tornado rush phases.

Other than when he turns into sand, be on the lookout for his stomp attack. Getting hit by that at even 50% can be fatal. With all his crazy moves, only attack him when he isn’t summoning anything. He’ll act like a normal boss without all the extra gimmicks.

If you want a solid build to take on the Yellow Wind Sage, consider respec’ing your skill points to focus on the Stamina tree from the Foundation section and the Smash Stance from the Staff Stances menu. Build up your Focus by landing a flurry of light attacks on the boss. After a few hits, back off before he retaliates. But if you have the Composure skill in the Stamina tree, you can dodge in between your combo and resume it after the dodge.

If you perform a triple light attack into a Charged Focus attack combo, you can stagger the Yellow Wind Sage and get another free combo in. It’s also safer if you can do this while using the Immobilize spell to keep him in place. Since you’ll be using light attacks most of the time, make use of the Opportune Watcher skill for Craving Eyes to build up your Focus quicker.

Finally, make sure to upgrade your Celestial Medicine level in Stamina Recovery and Defense as high as possible. It’ll help you dodge more and take more hits if your timing isn’t perfect.
