The Fireproof Mantle is a highly sought-after secret item in the very first chapter of Black Myth: Wukong. Securing it before facing off against Black Bear Guai should definitely be one of your top priorities. Recommended Videos:

The Fireproof Mantle is a remarkable vessel that you can equip and utilize to effectively resist all fire damage for a limited time. There are numerous occasions when having it proves to be extremely handy, but it is especially crucial during the second phase of the Black Bear Guai boss fight towards the end of Chapter 1.

The very first thing you need to do in order to unlock the path to the Fireproof Mantle is to ring three bells and locate the Ancient Guanyin Temple. By following the main story, you are almost guaranteed to come across the bells, yet somehow I still managed to completely miss the Ancient Guanyin Temple despite playing. Thankfully, you will learn from my mistake and thus save yourself a significant amount of time spent on backtracking.

How to Find the Fireproof Mantle

To find the Fireproof Mantle, you will initially have to defeat Guangzhi near the Outside the Forest Shrine. Subsequently, you will head to the Snake Trail shrine to engage in the battle against the Guangmou boss. After ringing that bell, you are on your way to the Marsh of the White Mist shrine, where you will encounter the White Clad Noble boss fight.

Here is where I made a rather simple mistake that ended up costing me around an hour in backtracking to see if I had missed any bells. Once you ring the bell in the boss arena of White Clad Noble, do not continue on to the next area. Instead, you actually need to go back through the main entrance of the arena, and from there, you should notice a newly revealed path on your right. Follow that path to be transported to the Ancient Guanyin Temple, where another boss and the Fireproof Mantle await you.

How to Beat Elder Jinchi

Before you can lay your hands on the Fireproof Mantle, you will need to overcome Elder Jinchi. His fight is quite similar to that of the Wandering Wight, although he has some monk NPCs who will attack you throughout the battle and possesses a special move that enables him to heal himself. Just like the Wandering Wight, Elder Jinchi is relatively easy to knock down, so make use of a combination of magic, transformations, and combos to continuously break his stance. Then, when Elder Jinchi floats into the air, start attacking his worshipers before they reach him to minimize the amount of health regeneration he can achieve.

Aside from that major healing maneuver, Elder Jinchi doesn’t really have any particularly tricky tactics up his sleeve. Avoiding the monks can be a bit of a nuisance, but they don’t deal enough damage to warrant that you focus on them instead of the boss himself. Once Elder Jinchi is defeated, you will obtain the Fireproof Mantle and be fully prepared for the intense battle against Black Bear Guai.
