Both WayForward Games and Matt Bozon, the co-creator of Shantae, have tweeted that the campaign DLC for 2016’s Shantae: Half-Genie Hero will be setting sail in just 10 days. To be specific, it will be on August 29.

The new DLC will enable players to take control of Shantae’s arch-rival, the notorious and self-proclaimed “Queen of the Seven Seas”, Risky Boots. In a plotline that runs parallel to the Half-Genie Hero storyline, players will guide Risky through Sequin Land. They will gather items to upgrade the Dynamo device that she steals from the protagonists in the game’s third act.

Helping Risky in these misdeeds are a variety of skills (returning from the previous game Pirate’s Curse), such as the ability to cannon-bounce and glide. New tricks will involve the use of a grappling gun, as well as the ability to command Tinkerbats to fight alongside her. All of this could potentially lead to a showdown with the adorable Shantae herself.

I’m extremely excited about this release, and I’m sure many fans are too. It has been a long wait and I personally can’t wait to embark on the Poop Toot for some thrilling swashbuckling adventure.

Pirate Queen’s Quest is a paid DLC update (free for Kickstarter backers) and its price is still to be determined. It will be released on August 29 on PS4, PS Vita, Wii U, Switch, Xbox One and PC.
